Life Whisperer launches its global IVF collaboration at ESHRE to apply Artificial Intelligence to Endometrial Receptivity

Life Whisperer, the fertility arm of AI healthcare company Presagen, will invite clinics around the world to participate in its fourth global IVF clinic collaboration at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) Annual Meeting in Copenhagen. The AI Open Project aims to apply AI to the assessment of endometrial receptivity using transvaginal ultrasound images, which is a critical factor in a successful pregnancy.

Life Whisperer’s first two AIs in IVF use AI to non-invasively and instantly evaluate embryo quality using  a single image just before embryo transfer. The AIs assess the morphological quality of the embryo and provide a likelihood that the embryo will lead to a pregnancy, and a likelihood that the embryo is genetically normal (i.e. euploid). Numerous clinical studies have shown that Life Whisperer’s AI can perform better than current manual grading to ultimately reduce time to pregnancy for the patient*.

Presagen CEO and Co-founder, Dr Michelle Perugini said “Whilst the embryo is important in determining a successful pregnancy, understanding the receptivity of the endometrium to receive that embryo and the likelihood of implantation is critical. The aim of this global collaboration is to access a global dataset of transvaginal ultrasound images to train AI that is non-invasive and more reliable in predicting endometrial receptivity.”

Clinics that participate and contribute data in the global collaboration are rewarded with royalties in the future sales of the product. Life Whisperer already has contributors from the USA and Europe, with access to over 40,000 images.

Life Whisperer’s third product uses AI to assess images of eggs, or oocytes, to determine their competence in forming a usable embryo. This can help IVF patients to evaluate their likelihood of success, and support women who decide to freeze their eggs for future use by providing greater assurance of the quality of eggs that are frozen. This product is expected to be released later this year, and was created with a collaboration of over 200 clinics around the world.

Life Whisperer will be exhibiting with its global distributor, FujiFilm Irvine Scientific, which will have a significant presence at the prestigious ESHRE conference. Life Whisperer will also be presenting their latest research in using AI to assess embryo quality. In addition, Life Whisperer will feature in a major European study by IVI-RMA, one of the largest clinic networks in the world, presenting the efficacy of using Life Whisperer’s AIs to assess the quality of post-thawed embryos, which was peer-reviewed and awarded an oral presentation.
